New FOIA Public Authorities

As a result of the Freedom of Information (Additional Public Authorities) Order 2018 (SI 2018/173), a series of new public authorities have been added to Schedule 1 of FOIA from 1 May 2018. They are: The Advisory Panel on Substance Misuse; The British Film Institute; The Committee for the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes; The Committee on Fuel Poverty; The Ebbsfleet Development Corporation; The Future Generations Commissioner for Wales; The Housing Ombudsman; The Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration; The Independent Commission for Aid Impact; The Independent Monitoring Board for the Military Corrective Training Centre; The Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales; The National Independent Safeguarding Board; The Regulatory Policy Committee; The Service Complaints Ombudsman; The Surveillance Camera Commissioner.

No wonder employment figures are rising. Get planning your information requests.

On the same day, the Freedom of Information (Removal of References to Public Authorities) Order 2018 (SI 2018/183) will come into force and remove from Schedule 1 a series of, essentially, defunct public authorities. Life is too short to list them all here, but if you have a burning question for Equality 2025 or the Design Council the clock is ticking.
