Just two short but important pieces of news. First, I can now confirm that Google has applied for permission to appeal to the Supreme Court in respect of the Court of Appeal’s landmark judgment in Vidal-Hall v Google. The SC’s judgment on the application is awaited. Second, it would appear that the case of CG v Facebook which I blogged about earlier this year (see here) is also currently on appeal in Northern Ireland, with a cross-appeal being brought by CG on the question of whether the court erred when it concluded that Facebook fell outside the territorial scope of the DPA 1998.
