EU APPROVES FINANCIAL DATA TRANSFERS TO US FOR COUNTER-TERRORISM PURPOSES

On 13 July 2010, the Council of Europe promulgated a decision whereby it approved an agreement between the EU and the US for the transfer of financial messaging data from the EU to the US, specifically for the purposes of the US’s Terrorist Finance Tracking Programme.
